"Margaret-Ann Armour is clearly at home in front of hundreds and hundreds of Grade 6 girls. With colourful chemical mixtures glowing on one side of the table and dry ice bubbling out of a beaker on the other side, the University of Alberta associate dean of science (diversity) receives applause and whistles from the crowd.

"She's a rock star," said Grace Ennis, co-ordinator of Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science and Technology (WISEST). Armour co-founded the group to encourage women to pursue studies and careers in disciplines such as science and engineering."
