Dr. Sunera Thobani (UBC) will deliver this year's Dallas Cullen Memorial lecture entitled "Sovereignty, Culture, Rights: The Politics of Gendered Violence in Canada" on Friday, September 18, from 3:00-4:30 pm in Athabasca Hall Room 227.

A former president of NAC, the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Dr. Thobani's current research draws upon critical race and feminist theories to study globalization, citizenship, migration, Muslim women, the War on Terror, and media -- all very timely topics.

The Annual lecture is made possible by the endowment established in memory of Dallas Cullen, a beloved former chair of Women's Studies, who was pivotal to building the program at the University of Alberta.

The lecture will be followed by a reception All are welcome.
