The Social Innovation Institute at MacEwan University, in collaboration with MITACS, has selected six graduate students from across the entire University of Alberta to partner with six different non-profit organizations in Edmonton in carrying out applied research projects to support progressive social change in the local community. The six fellows were each awarded stipends of $10,000 (plus research expenses) for the period January - June, 2020. Two of the six awards went to students in the Gender and Social Justice Studies MA program: Charlene Campo (who will be supervised by Dr. Shirley-Ann Tate of the Department of Sociology, and working with ABSI Connect) and Samantha Wesch (who will be supervised by Dr. Felice Lifshitz of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies, and working with the Commonwealth Association of Museums). Charlene and Samantha will also each mentor a MacEwan University undergraduate student.
