Thesis Project: Death Positivity and Death Justice in the Anthropocene


Bio: Danika (Dani) Jorgensen-Skakum is a queer Métis scholar, working toward her PhD in Political Science at the University of Alberta. She graduated from the Gender and Social Justice MA program in 2018, and worked for two-years as the Research Coordinator on the Just Powers research project. Her interests include climate justice, media and cultural studies, transformative justice, and re/de-composition. Dani is one of the inaugural members of Cohort X, and facilitates climate change dinner parties with Jessie Beier -- research-creation encounters designed to provoke thoughtful consumption and time-oriented eating practices. She has experience in feminist radio, zines, movement organization, and Housing First models.
