Thesis Title:  Journeying Through Islam, Society & Culture: Understanding Divergent Interpretations of Marital Rape Within the Sudanese Patriarchy


Bio: Miraaj Yousif graduated from the Gender and Social Justice MA program in summer of 2019. The program married her interests in women's rights and religion which lead to her thesis surrounding religious interpretation from the gender/social justice aspect. During her time in the program, she enjoyed the interdepartmental module choices, which helped cement her understanding of the multifacetedness of gender and social justice. After graduation, she went on to be a program coordinator, for a non-governmental organization that helps promote economic empowerment for underdeveloped and developing nations.
