Jodie Gauthier

BA Honors in WST (2006), JD (UBC)

Labour and Immigration Lawyer

Bio: After graduating with a BA Honors in Women's Studies, Jodie headed to the University of British Columbia to complete a JD in Law. She articled at an advocacy centre that provided legal advice to low income clients and now works at Koskie Glavin Gordon in Vancouver, where her practice focuses on labour, employment, human rights, and the intersection between labour and immigration. For Jodie, Women's Studies classes provided a lens through which to view the world. "As a lawyer representing workers and trade unions," she explains, "I need to be aware of inequality in the legal sense, but my Women's Studies training also helps me to understand workplace dynamics and hierarchies in a different way."
