Studying Public Health Promotion (University of Toronto)

Bio: Toni Luong (they/them) is a community-based researcher and psychotherapist in training. The WGS program strongly motivated Toni to pursue further academic training and professional work grounded in the values of human rights, social justice, and health equity. They built upon these concepts through studying a Master’s of Public Health, specializing in Health Promotion and Global Health.

Toni’s recent work includes peer counselling in various settings and as the Anti-trafficking Coordinator at the Canadian Council for Refugees. In supporting the healing process of individuals from all walks of life, Toni gained a deeper appreciation of the practice of hope-building through personal narrative and community capacity building. Moving forward, Toni is pursuing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology.

Practicing self-care for Toni looks like painting flowers and writing love letters. As a lover of books and art, Toni is inspired by stories of love, liberation, and connection.
