Minor, Major, and Honours requirements for students entering their programs before 2015.

NOTE: Curriculum changes implemented in 2015 included the cancellation of WGS 201. If you have not completed this course and still require it for your degree program, please contact the Undergraduate Advisor to adjust your program requirements.

  • Minor in WGS

    The minor in WGS requires a minimum of *18 in WGS or cross-listed WGS courses.

    The following are required:

    • WGS 201 (Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies)
    • *9 in senior level WGS courses
    • *6 in senior level WGS OR cross-listed courses

    Included in the above must be at least:

    • *3 in WGS at the 300 level or above
    • *3 in WGS at the 400-level

  • Major in WGS

    The major in WGS requires a minimum of *30 in WGS or cross-listed WGS classes.

    Students must complete the following:

      WGS 201
      WGS 301 (History of Feminist Thought)
    WGS 302 (Feminist Research and Methodology)
      WGS 332 (Contemporary Feminist Theory)
      *9 in senior level WGS courses
      *9 in senior level WGS or cross-listed courses

    Included in the above must be at least:

      *6 in WGS at the 400-level
    •  an additional *3 at the 400-level in WGS or cross-listed courses

  • Honours in WGS

    The Honours degree in WGS requires a minimum of *48 in WGS or cross-listed classes.

    Students must complete the following:

    •  WGS 201 (Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies)
    •  WGS 301 (History of Feminist Thought)
    •  WGS 302 (Feminist Research and Methodology)
    •  WGS 332 (Contemporary Feminist Theory)
    •  WGS 402 (Honours Thesis in WGS, *6)
    •  *12 in senior level WGS courses (at least *3 at the 400-level)
    •  *18 in senior level WGS or cross-listed courses (at least *3 at the 400-level)
