The STACEE collaboration comprises scientist (7 faculty members) from McGill, the University of Alberta, UC Los Angeles, UC Santa Cruz, Case Western Reserve, and Columbia (Barnard College) who are developing a high energy gamma ray observatory based on a central tower type solar power plant. A similar installation located in the French Pyrenees is being converted for gamma ray astronomy by groups in France (the CELESTE collaboration) and a German effort (GRAL) is starting in Spain.
