Career Fairs

Career Fairs 2024-25

Career fairs are a great way to connect with U of A students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni, and meet potential employee prospects. You can expect to connect with students and alumni from all areas of study at our Careers Day and Spring Hiring Fair events, or with students from the Faculty of Education at the Education Fair.

This year, we are excited to introduce the Healthcare Industry Career Fair, where employers from the industry are invited to come and meet students from a variety of studies related to healthcare, as well as students from other programs who are interested in exploring careers in the industry. Please note, this event replaces the Pharmacy Career Fair.

Sponsorship

Sponsoring a career fair is a great way to build and enhance your employer brand among students and alumni, while showcasing your organization as an employer of choice. By signing up as a sponsor, you support programming and events at the Career Centre, which can also help you develop your talent pool by further engaging with the U of A community. There are multiple levels of sponsorship to be considered, and this year we have updated our sponsorship packages, offering several great new incentives!

Employer Listing

As a part of each career fair, students will have access to an employer listing site before the event, and for the following year. The site is an opportunity to include your contact information, and links to your website, social media, and digital recruitment documents that will be helpful for students and alumni. Your company listing is included in your booth registration. If you cannot attend the fair you can sign up for an online-only listing at a reduced price.

Register for your career fair booth through your campusBRIDGE  account.

To access the registration:

  • Log into campusBRIDGE  using an Employer & Partner account. Check out our quick instructional video  on how to create an account.
  • Once logged in, select Career Centre Events & Workshops.
  • Search through the available events for the fair you want to attend.
  • Click on Register for this Event.
  • Follow the prompts for registration and payment.

Registration for all career fairs closes two (2) weeks before the event.

Making the Most of Career Fairs

In advance of career fairs, we encourage you to consider your recruitment goals and prepare for your interactions with students and alumni.

Set your goals

  1. Consider your reasons for participating in career fairs. Is it to build awareness of your organization or employment opportunities? Are you looking to build your brand visibility on campus?
  2. Determine who are your target students and graduates. What skills, knowledge, and attributes are you recruiting? Are you looking to fill specific positions?
  3. Ensure that your colleagues attending the fair are familiar with your goals and recruitment processes for your organization.

Plan your interactions

What do you want students and alumni to know about your organization?

Consider if and how you want to collect information from students.

  • Are you comfortable connecting with students and alumni over LinkedIn?
  • Some students and alumni may bring resumes or business cards. How do you want to collect this information?
  • How will you follow up with students and alumni after the fair?
  • How can students and alumni get in touch with you, or your organization, after the fair?

We welcome and encourage you to bring print materials and swag items for your booth, however, many students will prefer to connect with you digitally through your website and social media channels. Make sure these details are easily accessible. Please ensure you are bringing enough printed materials, as we are not able to print materials for employers.

Choose your Representatives

Students and alumni look forward to meeting with a wide range of employees from your organization, not just recruiters and HR reps. If it’s possible, consider sending a diverse team from a range of fields and areas within your organization.

Review Logistics

Sometimes the person registering for a career fair is not the representative attending the fair. Ensure that event logistics, including locations, campus maps, and parking details, are shared with the appropriate members of your organization.

Event details will be emailed to the email address used for registration.
