Esther Fujiwara

Associate Professor

I received my PhD in Psychology at the University of Bielefeld in Germany. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Rotman Research Institute in Toronto (ON), I joined the Department of Psychiatry in 2007. Current studies in my lab investigate emotion-cognition interactions in neurological/psychiatric and healthy populations. In my spare time, I love being with my family and friends, good food, and traveling. I also sometimes do statistics for no reason.

Hi! I'm a graduate student in the Department of Psychiatry. I became interested in the field of neuropsychology through various classes at the university. My work is looking at relationships between HIV, impulsivity and risk behaviours.

Hi! My name is Veronica and I’m a BSc Psychology student here at the U of A. I’ve been lucky to get the chance to hop around in different research areas over the course of my degree, but I am incredibly excited about this current project in the Fujiwara Lab! I love helping and working with people; this project perfectly ties this together with my interests in mental health, emotions, and interpersonal psychology. The big dream is to pursue a Masters/PhD in Clinical Psychology and work as a Registered Psychologist. Outside of lab life, cooking, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family are my jam.

I'm Alex, and I'm a second year undergraduate student in Neuroscience. I'm really interested in research involving mental health, particularly clinical interventions, personalized medicine paradigms, and social psychological influences on mental health. As well, I'm really fascinated by research that pushes the boundaries of current conceptual frameworks of medical science and challenges our existing perceptions of disorders or therapies. Outside of the lab, I like to work in the community and volunteer in things I'm passionate about, like mental health, student voice, and the environment.
