Secretary

Carissa Kratchmer

kratchme@ualberta.ca
My name is Carissa Kratchmer and I am a fifth year psychology student here at the University of Alberta, although I hope to one day soon call myself a student of medicine. Until then however, I try and do my part in the community. I am currently volunteering with the Support Network's Distress Line as a supportive listener....which I absolutely love! This year I am thoroughly enjoying the research portion of my academics and am hoping to pursue this more in years to come. I look forward to bringing more awareness of mental health and mental health resources, most specifically on campus, and am aiming to do so through a couple of informative (albeit exciting) events in the near future.

Mike Tan

xtan@ualberta.ca
My name is XueHai Tan (Mike), 2nd year PhD student in Materails Engineering, working on Nanomaterials for Hydrogen storage. This is my 5th year in GoldenKey. This year, I will be the treasurer for our Chapter.

VP Social

VP Communications and Webmaster

Dustin Morrill

morrill@ualberta.ca
Hi I’m Dustin, I’m the chapter’s VP Communications and Webmaster. I answer emails addressed to the chapter, maintain the chapter website, and help the executive team plan and execute projects and events. I’ve been a member of Golden Key for one year and joined the executive January 2010. I was a volunteer during the last Canadian Conference, which was hosted by our chapter, and I was fortunate enough to go to the International Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona. Both were excellent experiences. I’m in my third year of an honors computing science program and I’m really enjoying it. I hope to one day work for Google, or a company like Google that treats its software developers very well and creates innovative products. In my leisure I enjoy playing hockey and any other sport, hanging out with friends and family, and occasionally playing video games.

VP Historian

Jaron Van Dijken

jaron@ualberta.ca
Jaron is currently a PhD student in Electrical & Computer Engineering and is researching new materials for solar cells. Beyond engineering, he is interested in all aspects of the energy economy and technology commercialization. With this experience comes expertise in data organization and attention to detail, which are critical qualities he brings to the table as the Historian.

VP Alumni

Mousumi Ghosh

mghosh@ualberta.ca
I am in my 5th year in Petroleum Engineering. I hopefully will graduate in April 2011. I finished all my co-op work terms, so it’s only academic year ahead of me! I like to meet with people. Other hobbies of mine are eating, watching youtube videos, googling maps of various places outside Canada, and snoozing under a cuddly blanket when it’s cold outside. I will put on my best efforts to make the GK chapter known to the entire UofA.

VP Honourary Members

Nikkita Muwanguzi

muwanguz@ualberta.ca
Hi everyone! My name is Nikkita Muwanguzi. I am currently in my 4th year of my Dental Hygiene program. I am originally from South Africa and Uganda. Unfortunately, I have not acclimatized to Edmonton’s unpredictable weather. I love to play basketball, swim and fit in a little tennis here and there. I am outgoing, fun spirited and I like to try out new things. If I am not busy in the dental clinic, I enjoy writing, reading good novels and spending time with family and friends. This is my first year on the executive team, and I am the current VP Honourary Members at U of A Golden Key Chapter.

VP Academic

Jeff Odenbach

odenbach@ualberta.ca
Jeff is a third year Master’s student in Biochemistry currently writing his thesis describing the role of MMP-2 in cardiovascular disease. Prior to joining the golden key executive, Jeff has worked with a number of campus organizations including the graduate students association, campus recreation and as a student mentor. Following his master’s degree, Jeff plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Renee also volunteers for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton, the University of Alberta Hospital Emergency Department, Science Student Mentors, the Campus Food Bank and Orientation 2010 and 2011. Renee is working her way towards getting a Science Degree, but more importantly hopes to enroll into the Faculty of Medicine to eventually become a reconstructive surgeon. Renee truly enjoys her work with Golden Key, and is always excited to organize and attend all the activities organized. She is always willing and excited to meet new people and loves working in a group to create an amazing university experience for all University of Alberta students and alumni.
