Bears XC earns best national finish since 2009

Golden Bears finish 8th at 2019 U SPORTS Championship

KINGSTON, ON - Three weeks after earning their best Canada West team finish in over a decade, the Golden Bears cross-country team finished their season with an eighth place finish at the 2019 U SPORTS Championship in Kingston on Saturday.

It marks the best national placing for the Bears XC team since finishing sixth in 2009. Calgary captured their second-straight men's national title, while the host Queen's Gaels captured the women's title. 

The Alberta men were led by fourth-year runner Royden Radowits, who finished just outside an All-Canadian spot with a 16th place finish (31:25.7). Fourth-year Golden Bear Matthew Hope also had a career day, finishing 25th (31:45.7).

Riley Stuermer (46th), Robert Chauvet (51st), Tyson Keddie (78th) were also Bears who factored into their team result. 

On the women's side, Jasmine Feddema placed 33rd for the Alberta Pandas, while Kaitlin Swartz (76th) and Kristen Hansen (101st) were the other Pandas runners.
