Philp got the Bears on track incredibly early on in the first, capitalizing on a breakaway 49 seconds into the game. Craig doubled the just six minutes later, sniping a perfectly placed half-clapper over Steven Stanford’s glove hand. Calgary managed just six shots in the opening frame, not testing Siemens in the Alberta net.

They were finally able to generate some substantial pressure halfway through the second, evening the game with two goals in 17 seconds. Gayle scored his second of the season off a loose puck in the slot, before Dumonceaux raced in on a partial break and snapped a shot over Siemens’ blocker.

Legault restored the one goal Alberta lead three minutes later, tapping in the Crooks deflected shot short side on Stanford.

Philp scored his second of the night and seventh of the season midway through the third, blowing a slap shot from the slot far side on a deep Stanford.

Calgary, however, responded quickly. Hauf cut the Alberta lead back to one with a quick shot short side on Siemens that was deflected by Sawyer Lange and into his own net. Dylan Walchuk forced Siemens out of is net, before feeding Pearce for the game-tying goal in the dying seconds.

Alberta dominated the pace in OT, outshooting the Dinos 9-1 in nine minutes. Hart finally ended the game late in the second frame, blowing a one-time shot past Stanford.

These two inter-provincial rivals will finish off the home-and-home series tomorrow night in Calgary.
