New funding gives U of A innovation a major boost

On March 3, the federal government announced significant new funding through the Canada Foundation for Innovation to support infrastructure needs of universities and research institutions across the country. Five projects led out of the University of Alberta received $24.1 million in CFI funding, of which $19.3 million is coming to the U of A. The balance will go to project partner institutions across Canada. An additional eight projects led out of partner institutions secured $8.2 million in CFI funding for the U of A. These projects will help keep the U of A at the forefront of innovative research pushing the boundaries of knowledge in science, technology and health.
