What is your first U of A memory?
Volunteering at Universiade in 1983. It was the first time I had actually been to campus. The next time was when I started working in Conference Services in 1990.
What’s something your coworkers don’t know about you?
I’m a pretty open book, but I’d say they don’t know that in 2009, to celebrate 100 years of five-pin bowling in Canada, I was named one of the top 100 female bowlers of the previous 100 years by the Canadian five-pin Bowlers Association.
What’s your favourite distraction?
Spending time with family and friends and my sweet doggo, Kelby, and watching the Oilers, especially during the playoffs!
If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?
Probably Criminology. I love reading true crime novels and I like to think I’d make a really good John Douglas!
You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?
Friends and family that are no longer here. I’d love to have them all together. It would be a wild dinner, for sure!
If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?
Queen but with Freddie Mercury. I’ve seen them with frontman Adam Lambert but would love to have seen them with Freddie.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Don’t be afraid to fail.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Facebook. Honestly. I have friends all over the world, and it’s the best way to keep in touch with them!
What three words describe your U of A experience?
Best co-workers ever.
Do you have any upcoming projects or initiatives you are looking forward to at work?
Launching new software in partnership with Residence Services for booking our summer accommodations.
