The World Day of Social Justice on the U of A campus is one way that students can participate in conversations surrounding discrimination and mental health. This year, U of A students can observe the World Day of Social Justice by visiting the Wellness Supports Team’s Living Library event.
A Living Library is a gathering where people (“books”), in this case, people who have experienced discrimination, hardship and resilience, share their story with “readers” who are given the opportunity to share in conversation about books’ experiences. These conversations give participants the opportunity to listen and ask questions and to gain empathy for those with experiences different from their own.
This event will be an amazing opportunity for students to gain a connection with the campus community outside of the classroom environment. Anyone interested in participating in a conversation for the World Day of Social Justice can sign up now and choose from a variety of living books. The event will be held February 14 to 16.
