• Christian Beaulieu, Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculties of Engineering and Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in magnetic resonance imaging of brain micro-structure

• Vincent Bouchard, Associate Professor and Associate Chair (Undergraduate), Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Faculty of Science - named the December Instructor of the Month

• Ken Butcher, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in cerebrovascular disease

• Joel Dacks, Associate Professor, Department of Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in evolutionary cell biology

• Jason Dyck, Professor and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Centre, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in molecular medicine

• John England, Professor, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science - received the Weston Family Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Northern Research

• Laurier Fagnan, Associate Professor, Campus Saint-Jean - received the Teaching Excellence award at the Gala Saint-Jean 2016

• Karim Fouad, Professor, Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in spinal cord injury

• Kevin Haggerty, Professor, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts - named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in surveillance ecologies

• Basil Hubbard, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in molecular therapeutics

• Paul Humphries, Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named Alberta's Family Physician of the Year, as well as one of Canada's Top Ten Family Physicians

• Patrick Pilarski, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in machine intelligence for rehabilitation

• Lindsey Post, Pandas Hockey - named Athlete of the Week

• Yasmin Rafiei, Student, Faculty of Science - named to the Class of 2017 Rhodes Scholars

• Megan Strickfaden, Associate Professor, Department of Human Ecology, Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences - received the Alberta Premier's Council's 2016 Award of Excellence in Education

• Imre Szeman, Professor, Department of English and Film Studies, Faculty of Arts - named a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in cultural studies

• Kim TallBear, Associate Professor, Faculty of Native Studies - named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous peoples, technoscience and environment

• Randy Yatscoff, Executive VP of Business Development, TEC Edmonton - awarded the National Startup Canada Adam Chowaniec Lifetime Achievement Award

• Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre, Augustana Campus - received the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction's National Steel Design Award for Sustainability

• University of Alberta - received the Gold Award for Educational Excellence from the Canada China Business Council
