Kelly McDonagh is an Office Assistant. She works with the Dean of Students in their Career Centre. Take a few minutes to see how G Suite shapes her life.

What does an average work day look like for you?

I don’t think I actually have one. It really depends on the time of year and what else is going on in our office, like career fairs and mentoring cycles. But I’d say it’s mostly a mixture of program support, office maintenance and ordering, and a decent amount of problem solving.

If you were a Google app, what would you be and why?

I would be Google Calendar because I love to have everything organized and laid out, and Google Calendar is so efficient for that. It’s seamless when it comes to organizing people, and with an office of 26 people, it’s just impossible without a tool like that. Plus it’s similar to my role — I keep everybody running, and so does Google Calendar.

If someone were new to the university and using G Suite for the first time, what tips would you give them?

Don’t be afraid to click around. Whatever you want to do is likely possible, it’s just a matter of knowing what to look for. So the more you click around, the more you use the explore feature, the more you use G Suite Training, the more you’re able to know what the potential is, and you realize the potential is limitless. Anything you want to do, you can do.
