Edmonton and area are experiencing a period of unseasonably warm weather. At present, Environment Canada is forecasting a daytime high of above 30 degrees Celsius and has issued a Heat Warning for the remainder of the work week. As a result, it is quite likely that building interiors across campus will be warmer than normal.

Each unit is encouraged to consider how they might adapt to the higher temperatures across our campuses. Options to consider might include:

  • encouraging staff to drink more water
  • where appropriate, allowing for more flexible/casual clothing options in the work space
  • adjusting hours of work or task assignments to avoid the high heat of the day
  • taking frequent breaks from the heat

Regardless of which accommodations are made, it is important to remember that all staff must adhere to proper protocols with respect to working safely, including the appropriate use of protective clothing and equipment.

To ensure that you are able to work as safely and as comfortably as possible, please consult with your supervisors.
