Dear University of Alberta community,
I am pleased to update you on the progress of the internal consultations on our future University Strategic Plan. These conversations are crucial to ensuring the resulting plan sets a course that will advance our teaching, research and community engagement.
We have reached the midway point in our first round of consultations and have been hearing from many groups across our community. I understand from our steering committee that the conversations have been frank, illuminating and productive. For those of you who have participated, thank you for your contributions. For those who haven’t yet participated, I encourage you to either register for an in-person round table session or to contribute through our online feedback form.
Our first round of consultations will conclude on December 12. In January, we will circulate a community-wide survey that will seek to better understand what we heard during the fall consultation sessions and to understand where our community’s priorities lie. Based on this information, we’ll present a What We Heard document and invite feedback once more from the entire community. Finally, we will craft the plan which will be submitted to the appropriate governing bodies for feedback and, eventually, final approval.
Once again, my sincerest thanks to everyone who has participated so far. Let us continue to work towards building a plan for the future of our university together.
