Report: Introducing Stories from the Field

Reflecting on the collective work of the U of A community to embed equity, diversity and inclusion into our culture.

Student Lifestyle - Student life around the University of Alberta North Campus

At the University of Alberta we are committed to achieving a more diverse, equitable, accessible and inclusive environment for all who teach, research, work, learn, create and live within our community. In 2019, we launched the Strategic Plan for Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity as part of that commitment.

We are pleased to share Stories from the Field, the final report on the activity springing from the strategic plan. The collective work to undertake the next phase of the plan will begin in fall 2023.

Stories from the Field offers reflections on and snapshots of equity, diversity, and inclusion activities over the past three years (2019-2022) that continue to build on the U of A’s century-long history of innovation and risk-taking in the name of creating a more equitable, inclusive institution.

We invite you to read the stories and activities highlighted in this report as they speak to our collective recognition that to be excellent, we must break patterns that serve to replicate a status quo that benefits some and excludes others. Collectively, these insights are intended to inform future strategies, policies and procedures as we seek to become a more equitable, diverse and inclusive institution.
