What is your first U of A memory?

Returning to Augustana Campus to interview for my previous position (Augustana Alumni Relations) just over 16 years ago, and having this feeling of coming home has to, be if not the first, but the best memory. It is my first memory because the last time that I had been on campus prior to 2007, Augustana was a private institution. In 2004, Augustana University College and the University of Alberta merged. Having the opportunity to revisit that feeling that I felt as a student and to continue to feel like I’m coming home everytime I step onto campus is something very special.

What’s something your coworkers don’t know about you?

I am a committed CrossFit athlete at Greater Purpose Health & Fitness in Camrose. Being a part of a supportive community is a way of life that I have grown up in, whether it be family, friends, work environment, or a cross fit gym, I find myself drawn to these communities that support my overall health.

What’s your favourite distraction?

Getting lost in a good book, like the kind that takes you away to another place. A book that you connect with the characters and feel like you are living the story with them in the book.

If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?

A Masters in Indigenous Community Engagement

What’s a weird pet peeve you have?

Standing in line ups, especially when people cut in line.

You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?

My dad. He passed away two years ago. Our family meals are not the same without him, although we know he is always there with us.

If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?

I’m an avid concert goer of many genres of music. I'd have to say on the top of my list right now would be Ed Sheeran or Mitchell Tenpenny!

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Love yourself, be true to yourself and always follow your intuition.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

I can live without almost anything. Things aren't as important in my life as being connected is. Connection and relationship with all living beings is what is most important to me.

What three words describe your U of A experience?

Deep, empowering and inspiring
