United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is concerned with combatting international crime and helping individual nations in their fight against drugs. Although not a UN committee, the UNODC plays an integral role in reducing international crime and terrorism and is extremely relevant in this globalized age.

In addition to referring to the UNODC web page for information, be sure to consult the HSMUN Blog regularly for news updates on the topics and conference (especially the items tagged "UNODC").

Topics

This year, the UNODC will discuss the question of human trafficking, specifically in relation to the trafficking of narcotics. This committee will also raise the question of how to deal with and eradicate illicit drug crops.

Research Materials

Background Paper: The Question of Human Trafficking in Relation to the Trafficking of Narcotics

Background Paper: The Question of Dealing with and Eradicating Illicit Drug Crops

NOTE: Background papers are written by members of the dais, intervention, and secretariat and are designed as an introduction to the topic, not as a replacement for more in-depth research related to national positions.
