In 2006, Professor Linda Reif joined
UAILS as our Faculty Advisor.
Professor Linda C. Reif joined the Faculty of
Law at the University of Alberta in 1987. She studied at the
University of Windsor (LL.B., 1982) and Cambridge University
(LL.M., 1985). She taught at the Faculty of Law, University of
Western Ontario (1986-1987), and worked for the Bank of America
in London, England (1985-1986). During 1991, Professor Reif was
seconded to the Office of Alberta Ombudsman where she was Director
of Legal Services. She has been the Director of Graduate Studies
and Research (1997-1998) and Associate Dean (Graduate Studies
and Research) (1998-1999) at the Faculty of Law, University of
Alberta.
Professor Reif teaches Public International Law,
International Business Transactions, and International Human
Rights Law. She has published widely in the areas of public international
law, ombudsman and human rights law, international business law
and international environment law in publications in Canada,
the U.S., Europe and Japan.

Professor Reif has been Editor of Publications
of the International Ombudsman Institute since 1989. She is a
member of the Editorial Committee of Global Governance (Lynne
Rienner Pub.) and the Editorial Board of the Canadian Yearbook
of International Law.
Professor Reif is on the roster of environmental
experts under the Canada-Chile Agreement on Environmental Cooperation.
From 1994-1997, she served on the Board of Directors of the Academic
COuncil on the United Nations System (ACUNS) and in 1998 and
1999 she co-directed the ACUNS/ASIL Summer Workshop on International
Organization at Yale University. Professor Reif has provided
advisory services for the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada,
the federal Commissioner on Environment and Sustainable Development
and the Uniform Law Conference of Canada/Department of Justice. |
