On June 6, 2018, Dashan (aka Mark Rowswell) will be in Edmonton to receive a Honorary Doctorate of Letters -the highest honour conferred by the University of Alberta.
While in Edmonton, Dashan has generously offered to perform 大山侃大山 Dashan Live for the enjoyment of students and the local Mandarin-speaking community. Net proceeds of this performance will go to offset the travel and expenses of eligible students partaking in the Faculty of Arts East Asian Studies' Summer in Harbin program, a four-week intensive Mandarin language training program in Harbin, China.

In addition to 大山侃大山, the China Institute and University of Alberta International will host a one-on-one English interview with Dashan on June 7, 2018. The dialogue will feature Dashan's personal story, a discussion of cross-cultural issues and some Q&A. This event will be conducted in English.
