Augmentative + Alternative Communication Camp Alberta

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a set of tools and strategies that can help people who are unable to rely on verbal speech to communicate. AAC systems may include gestures or signs, picture/word boards, mobile devices with communication apps, and/or speech generating communication devices.

AAC Camp Alberta is a weekend family camp for children aged 6 - 19 years who use robust multimodal AAC systems and their families to enjoy fun camp activities while they practice social communication.

AAC Camp activities include fun games, music and movement, arts and crafts, and more, all designed to encourage communication and interaction between campers. There are also special sessions for siblings to connect and learn more about AAC. Parent/caregiver sessions include discussions led by AAC experts and opportunities for networking with other parents, plus time to relax and socialize with other parents.

Thank you to all the campers, family members, community members and volunteers who help make AAC Camp Alberta a great success!
