"Core Concerns ..." exhibition highlights department research collaboration

"Core Concerns, Care Embodiments" is the first public presentation of artistic work created in connection with the U of A led interdisciplinary research project "Co-designing a Smartwear Revolution." The exhibition features new work by current students and recent graduates—both undergraduate and graduate—from the University of Alberta Department of Art & Design, alongside collaborators on the Smartwear Revolution project.

Curated by History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture postgraduate student Ginger Carlson, and featuring new artworks by Dylan Brenneis, Calli Giroux, Michelle Kwasnycia, Brooke Leifso & Mona Dehghanzadeh Sahi, Monique Mah, Samantha McLeish, Aynaz Raoufian, Sheryl Spencer, and Al Young, Core Concerns, Care Embodiments explores the complexities, multiplicities, and potential choreographies of bodies, assistive technologies, and care networks. Together, their pieces take up the poetics of one of the project’s core scientific and technical research concerns: what can (trunk) support do?
