Certified in Management (CIM)

The Canadian Institute of Management has been Canada’s management certification, accreditation, and professional development leader since 1942.

The association’s internationally recognized professional designations, Certified in Management (C.I.M.®) and Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.®), allow professionals to be identified as the most competent, knowledgeable, and insightful business leaders in their industries.

When you become a member, you gain access to a vast professional network with a wealth of knowledge, support, mentorship and much more to advance your management career.

Certified in Management (CIM)

The Certified in Management (C.I.M.) designation is attained by completing a certificate, diploma, or degree in management, or the 8-course Chartered Management Program (CMP) or equivalent, and the Management Aptitude Evaluation (MAE).

U of A Relevant Courses

U of A Continuing Education offers all four mandatory courses as well as six (6) out of the nine (9) optional courses required to fulfill the academic requirements of the Chartered Management Program (CMP)/Certified in Management (CIM) designation.

Since all of these courses are components of Continuing Education’s Management Development Certificate, students who complete the eight CIM courses can obtain a credential from the University of Alberta while working toward their CIM professional designation.

If a student takes these individual, approved U of A courses, the courses can be counted towards the CIM designation, even if they do not complete the entire Management Development Certificate.
