Admission Requirements
All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from the University of Alberta (or its academic equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the U of A) with an average GPA of 3.0 (or its equivalent) in the last two years of study. Since grading systems vary greatly from institution to institution, the U of A examines the content of courses completed elsewhere to establish equivalencies.
All Applicants:
MSc Program: A minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4-point grading systems, or a B on most letter grading systems.
PhD Program: A minimum admission grade point average of 3.3 on most 4-point grading systems, or a B+ on most letter grading systems.
MEng Program: A minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4-point grading systems, or a B on most letter grading systems. The competitive GPA for the MEng program is 3.6 or higher.
International Applicants: A minimum admission grade point average varies by country. See minimum academic requirements from other countries.
Admission to ECE graduate studies is competitive, and holding the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee a position in a program.
A Non-Refundable Application Fee of $135 CAD is required for students applying to graduate studies at the University of Alberta.
