Eligibility
- Superior academic achievement
- Textile Sciences
- The student’s research should be in the area of textile sciences, textile manufacturing, fashion technology, sustainable fashion, fiber chemistry or historical textiles
- Selection based on academic achievement
- Selection based on demonstrated research potential
- If the department wishes to nominate a student registered in a different department but whose research meets the eligibility criteria, they may do so
- Open to Canadian citizens
- Open to permanent residents
- Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits
- Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs
- Open to applicants in doctoral programs
- Open to applicants in masters programs
- Open to full time and part time registered students
How to apply
By Nomination Only: Students should contact their department for details on the application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty). The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.

Marilyn McNeil-Morin Graduate Research Scholarship in Textile Sciences. Annually funded by Marilyn McNeil-Morin, BSc, MBA- Marilyn developed a passion for textiles through specialization in the UofA Clothing and Textiles program. During her career, Marilyn established Fashion Exchange at George Brown College, Toronto, as a centre for study, research, and provision of apparel manufacturing services. Through this work, Marilyn recognized the need for ongoing research in textile technology, textile recycling and sustainable practice. The fields of research into historic and cross-cultural textiles are important to preserve skills, gain an appreciation of textile art forms, and explore textile design
