As part of the Indigenous Ukrainian Relationship Initiative, we are honoured to welcome Dr. Niigaan Sinclair, Anishinaabe scholar from Peguis First Nation, award-winning writer, and Professor of Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba.
Together, we will explore themes of relationality, solidarity, war, and reconciliation and reflect on what it means to stand in relationship across communities in times of conflict and change.
About the presenter:
Dr. Niigaan Sinclair is Anishinaabe from Peguis First Nation and a professor of Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba. An award-winning writer and 2018 Canadian Columnist of the Year, he was named one of Canada's most influential people by Maclean's (2022).
His bestselling book "Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre" (2024) won the 2024 Governor General's Award for Non-Fiction.
