Kule Folklore Centre Connects with Supporters in Toronto

During his visit to Toronto for the XXVIII Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians on November 14–16, Dr. Oleksandr Pankieiev, Director of the Kule Folklore Centre, met with the Centre’s long-time supporters and shared updates on its current and upcoming initiatives. Among those he met were Oksana Kuryliw and John Leeson, Olga Kuplowska, and Switlana Medwidsky.

The Kuryliw family has a long history of supporting Ukrainian scholarship. In 1988, Oksana Kuryliw’s parents, Wasyl and Anna Kuryliw, established a family endowment at the University of Alberta to fund scholarships that foster graduate studies in Ukrainian folklore. Today, Oksana and John proudly continue this legacy of philanthropic support.

Olga Kuplowska, President of the Canadian Foundation for Ukrainian Studies, represented an organization that provides vital support for scholarly and publishing activities at the KuFC.
Switlana Medwidsky is a relative of Bohdan Medwidsky, founder of the Ukrainian Folklore Program at the University of Alberta. Both Switlana and Wolodymyr Medwidsky, Bohdan’s brother, have been long-time supporters of the Centre.
