Horizons of Belonging Post-event

On February 19, 2026, the Kule Folklore Centre hosted a screening of Horizons of Belonging at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, followed by a Q&A session with co-directors Steven Brese and Oleksandr Pankieiev, as well as executive producer Olena Goncharova.
On February 22, 2026, Horizons of Belonging was screened in Vegreville and was followed by a Q&A session with co-director Oleksandr Pankieiev.
On February 27, 2026, Oleksandr Pankieiev visited the University of Victoria, where the film was also screened, and he answered questions from the audience.
Horizons of Belonging follows four Ukrainian families over the course of a year in Edmonton and Calgary as they rebuild their lives after escaping Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Through deeply personal stories of displacement, resilience, and identity, the film explores what it means to be Ukrainian today—and what it truly means to start over in a new country.
