KuFC graduate students present their research at CSSH Celebration of Research 2026
22 October 2026
On October 15, 2026, graduate students affiliated with the Kule Folklore Centre participated in the CSSH Celebration of Research 2026, held at the University of Alberta’s University Commons Atrium. The event brought together researchers from across the social sciences and humanities and opened with welcoming remarks from U of A President Bill Flanagan.
KuFC graduate research was well represented during the poster session, with three students sharing projects that reflect the diversity of work being carried out at the centre. Dmytro Yesypenko presented “Imagining disease, interpreting war: Epidemic imagery in Ukrainian literature and song, 1830s–present”; Anna Olenenko shared her research on “Landscape and national identity: Contested narratives on the Dnipro wetlands”; and Illia Pokotylo presented “Music & comics: Exploring music-based graphic narratives”.
The Celebration of Research provided a valuable opportunity for KuFC graduate students to present their work to the broader university community, exchange ideas with researchers from different disciplines, and make new connections. We were delighted to be a part of this celebration of research at the University of Alberta.
