Saying Goodbye to Our First Archival Resident of 2026

5 October 2026

The Kule Folklore Centre was delighted to host Maryna Salagub, recipient of the Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre’s Archives Residency. During her stay, Maryna produced a large collection of artwork inspired by the materials housed in the Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives. She graciously gifted the KuFC one of the paintings she created during her time here, titled Rak (Crayfish). According to Maryna, the piece artistically reimagines the traditional pysanka crayfish symbol using the Petrykivka style.

Watch our short video to hear Maryna’s reflections on her residency, view her completed works, and get a closer look at the “Crayfish.”
