Department of Surgery Celebrates Unprecedented National Leadership in Orthopedics

The Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alberta is marking a remarkable national milestone, with three of its residency program graduates now holding some of the most influential leadership positions in Canadian orthopedics.
Dr. Marcia Clark (left) currently serves as President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Sukhdeep Dulai (center) is the President of the Canadian Orthopedic Association. Dr. Angela Scharfenberger (right) holds the role of national Specialty Chair for Orthopedic Surgery at the Royal College.
Department Chair, Dr. David Williams says, “The leadership of Dr Clark, Dr. Dulai and Dr. Scharfenberger reflects not only individual excellence, but also the Department of Surgery's longstanding commitment to developing surgeons who lead with integrity and purpose. We are so very proud of their accomplishments and the example they have set for trainees and colleagues.”
