On Monday, February 28, we began welcoming many members of the university community back to our campuses and our facilities are once again open to the public. With the provincial remote work order lifted over the weekend, we will soon be welcoming even more people back to our campuses and we expect there to be an adjustment period for all.
I am sharing the university’s cleaning, maintenance and building operations service standards as a reminder for our community members. By working together, we can ensure that our campuses continue to be safe, welcoming, and accessible for our whole community.
Cleaning Standards
Keeping our campuses clean is a shared responsibility. Please see our funded Cleaning Service Standards for information about cleaning responsibilities for our community as well as details on space cleaning frequency and how to arrange customized services.
Building Maintenance, Operations and Landscape Standards
Our maintenance, engineering and operations, facility services, grounds and environmental services teams work hard to keep our campuses healthy and maintained, from ventilation, safety, and security to our buildings and grounds. Learn more about how we operate and maintain our campuses.
Urgent Maintenance and Cleaning Requests
If you see a maintenance issue, report it easily through our new online request system at uab.ca/fixit. Requests can be submitted from any device and include real-time status updates. Report any urgent requests immediately, such as malfunctioning life safety devices (e.g. smoke detectors) or emergent water leaks, through the appropriate campus phone number listed.
