BSc Specialization in Psychology

The requirements for a specialization in psychology are very similar to a major in psychology. Both require a minimum of 12 psychology courses (★36), however, the specialization program has no limit to the number of psychology courses a student can take. This offers greater flexibility for a student to choose psychology courses to fulfill other BSc option requirements. Students selecting a specialization in psychology are required to complete the following:

  • PSYCO 104 - Basic Psychological Processes (★3)
  • PSYCO 105 - Individual and Social Behavior (★3)
  • STAT 141 - Introduction to Statistics (★3) OR STAT 151 - Introduction to Applied Statistics I (★3)
  • ★6 from
    • PSYCO 258 - Cognitive Psychology
    • PSYCO 275 - Brain and Behavior
    • PSYCO 282 - Behavior Modification
  • ★6 from
    • PSYCO 223 - Lifespan Developmental Psychology
    • PSYCO 239 - Abnormal Psychology
    • PSYCO 241 - Social Psychology
  • ★6 from 300-level or higher Arts PSYCO courses
  • ★6 from 300-level or higher Science PSYCO courses
  • For the above two requirements, at least ★6 must be at the 400-level (can be Arts or Science PSYCO courses)
