Successful September at SLIS for Master's Thesis Work

Congratulations are in order for three students who successfully defended their thesis work in quick succession this month.

Congratulations are in order for three students who successfully defended their thesis work in quick succession this month. Brief details are provided below.

Robyn Stobbs successfully defended her Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) thesis on September 11, 2014. The thesis is entitled "Fiction and Information: The Leisure Reading Experience." The supervisor was Dr. Margaret Mackey; Dr. Tami Oliphant and Dr. Ingrid Johnston made up the examining committee, chaired by Dr. Jennifer Branch-Mueller.

Jared Bielby successfully defended his combined Master of Arts in Humanities Computing / Master of Library & Information Studies (MA/MLIS) thesis on September 16, 2014. The thesis is entitled "The Heritage of Wikileaks: A History of Information Ethics`. The supervisors were Dr. Toni Samek and Dr. Geoffrey Rockwell; Dr. Sean Gouglas served as third reader on the examining committee, chaired by Dr. Ali Shiri.

Sarah Vela successfully defended her combined Master of Arts in Humanities Computing / Master of Library & Information Studies (MA/MLIS) thesis on September 19, 2014. The thesis is entitled "Representing Classical Artefacts Online: A User-Centric Approach for an Academic Audience." The supervisors were Dr. Ali Shiri and Dr. Harvey Quamen; Dr. Tami Oliphant and Dr. Dinesh Rathi made up the examining committee, chaired by Dr. Tami Oliphant.
