In November 2017, the School conducted its 28th annual employment survey of graduates of the MLIS program at the University of Alberta. The phrase "2016 graduates" includes graduates who convocated in the fall of 2015 or in the spring of 2016. This group includes the first cohort of students from the MLIS online teaching and learning stream to graduate from the program.

From a response rate of 58% (30 out of 52 graduates), key findings include:

- 97% of respondents have been employed at some time since graduation in the LIS sector (the highest rate in the last five-year comparison period) and a greater proportion of full-time permanent positions (66%);

- 50% of respondents had some LIS sector experience before entering the MLIS program; and

- 90% of respondents worked in a related position during the MLIS program.

The full report of the survey, which employed a more sophisticated assessment design than in past years, is found here. Information about the School's MLIS Program Assessment is available here.
