Our Degrees

We offer three undergraduate degree types, each differing by their level of focus and academic expectations.

Prior to Fall 2024, Faculty of Science degrees were structured with different requirements. Please view our Suspended Programs or BSc Renewal FAQ pages for more information.

Bachelor of Science MAJOR

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) Major degree is highly customizable with a wide breadth of topics to study. The degree includes a major with an optional minor or double major. This flexibility allows students to design their degree around two areas of interest, or choose to focus on only one area. Students have the option to keep their program broad or delve deeper into a discipline of their choice.

Your major (or double major) must be in Science, but your minor can be chosen from 60+ subjects, including many offered by:

  • Faculty of Arts
  • Faculty of Native Studies
  • Faculty of Business
  • Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE HONORS

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honors degree is for students looking for in-depth training in a specific field of science and are interested in scientific research. A research thesis project is embedded into each Honors program and students must maintain a higher standard of academic achievement than those in a BSc Major degree.

This is the best program if you plan to pursue a graduate degree or a research or academic career. Honors students can choose to add a minor, however doing so will reduce the amount of option courses they can take and may be difficult with certain subject combinations.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE / BACHELOR OF EDUCATION COMBINED

Are you thinking of becoming a Science teacher? Consider our combined program that allows for completion of two degrees, a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education at the secondary level, in five years of study.

The first two years of this program are spent with the Faculty of Science. The remaining 3 years will be completed in the Faculty of Education.

Students must select from seven major/minor combinations and follow a specific course curriculum.
