Kate Chisholm reappointed to Board of Governors

Kate Chisholm has been reappointed Chair of the University of Alberta Board of Governors, for a second three-year term by the Government of Alberta.

Kate Chisholm has been reappointed Chair of the University of Alberta Board of Governors, for a second three-year term by the Government of Alberta.

”The University of Alberta is pleased to continue working with Kate and the rest of the Board of Governors,” says Bill Flanagan, President of the University of Alberta. “In its promise to the global community as a change maker, community builder and world shaper, the university has benefited greatly from Kate’s engaged, thoughtful leadership and will continue to do so.”

Chisholm is Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer for Capital Power. Her corporate experience includes previously serving as EPCOR’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. She has been honoured as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women, and founded MORE, a mentoring program for young female professionals. She holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta.

Chisholm is excited for a second term to explore the potential under the new university model.

"As we move forward following the budget reductions, the Board of Governors and I are looking very much forward to working with the campus community to positively restore, renew and reinvest,” said Chisholm. “This is a fantastic opportunity to further advance the vision and mission of the University of Alberta.”

In addition, the Government of Alberta has reappointed four public members to the U of A Board of Governors for an additional three years: Guy Bridgeman, Daniel Eggert, Rakesh Saraf and Tom Ross.
