July Session

  • The 5-week July Session offers 14 courses in four academic areas taught by outstanding CUHK and visiting professors from renowned overseas universities, as well as Chinese language courses in Putonghua (Mandarin) and Cantonese.
  • International Summer School academic courses are accompanied with a slew of exciting virtual cultural activities ranging from city tours, cooking classes to heritage walks. We will continue to recreate many of the popular ISS cultural activities virtually, and they will be specifically designed to promote interaction among participants.
  • Courses in the following disciplines: Business and Finance, Understanding China, Chinese Language, Environment, Science and Technology, and Society and Human Interaction.

August Session

Chinese is the most spoken language in the world. Want to learn it and don't know where to start? 
At the three-week CUHK ISS August Session, you can:

  • Receive intensive training in Putonghua to acquire pragmatic competence in the Chinese language through classroom learning and immersion activities.

Education Abroad Application Fee: $250.00 CAD
Program Fee: July Session (EXCH 811)*:$1459.89 CAD
August Session (EXHC 811)*:$1459.89 CAD
Administration and Activity Fee:

July Session: HK$1,900 (approximately $310.00 CAD)
August Session: HK$1,200 (approximately $200.00 CAD)

Program Total: Approximately $2000 CAD - $2500CAD


*Based on Spring/Summer 2023 UAlberta fee index, not incl. non-instructional fees. International students will be subject to the International Differential Fee/Tuition Model.

Fees are subject to change without notice. Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and for any additional costs including visa fees, medical coverage, books and supplies, food, entertainment and incidental expenses.


Housing

Double or triple occupancy rooms on-campus are guaranteed for ISS participants. Staying in a hostel is optional, but you are strongly encouraged to live on-campus so you can interact with local and international students coming from different cultural backgrounds.

The hostels provide the following amenities:

  • Modest furnishings
  • Telephone and internet (ResNet) connections
  • Air conditioning
  • Shared washing machines and dryers
  • Shared kitchens equipped with refrigerators, stoves, boilers and microwaves
  • Shared bathrooms with showers
  • Common rooms with televisions
  • The on-campus accommodation fee does not include a meal plan.
