Welcome to Campus!

President Flanagan welcomes students to the Fall 2021 semester.

President Bill Flanagan talks with students outside on North Campus.

Welcome to the University of Alberta! In just over a week, thousands of you will be returning to our campuses for the first time in almost 18 months or arriving at the U of A for the first time. It is an exciting time, and I look forward to seeing you and sharing with you all that the U of A has to offer.

I know many of you are looking forward to experiencing student life in person for the first time, while many others are excited to reunite with friends, classmates, and favourite spaces on campus. Many of you will continue to join us remotely from around the world. Whether you are joining us in person or remotely, you will be receiving U of A's high-quality education and have access to various student supports.

I can’t wait to experience the energy of our community and meet some of you during the Week of Welcome, Clubs Fair, and Green & Gold Days. These events will also continue to have online components and offer opportunities for students to engage no matter where you are.

I know that all of us share the same commitment to keeping one another safe. My thanks to all of you for your patience this summer as we responded to the ever-changing realities of COVID-19. Through our collective efforts and mutual respect, we will have a successful and safe in-person learning experience once again. Thank you for supporting one another as we continue to navigate a unique school year.

I hope you enjoy your first week of classes. I look forward to seeing you on campus!
