What’s in My Bag: Pandemic Edition

A graduate student shares the must-have items she brings to campus in the "New Normal."

I’m always super curious about what’s in other peoples’ bags so I thought I would share mine! This is what I’ve been carrying around with me during the Fall 2021 semester.

1. My backpack

I love having a big purse to carry all my things in, but I have back problems so I need a backpack. I really love this one from lululemon because it holds literally everything I need it to, and it’s sturdy enough not to rip when I need to carry home a billion books.

2. School supplies

I carry a binder/notebook to my classes, as well as a little pencil case and a notebook for scribbling notes from meetings and random thoughts. If I need a textbook, I carry that too, but I’m in the thesis writing stage so I’m not really taking any courses. I also like to carry little page flags so I can note interesting things in the books I’m reading on the go.

3. A water bottle

I drink a lot of water so I bring a HUGE water bottle with me everywhere I go. I highly recommend it! There are amazing water bottle filling stations all around campus, like in CAB, SUB, Van Vliet, the third floor of Tory and more.

4. The basics

I have started carrying COVID-19-rekated things like extra masks, hand sanitizer and hand cream (because my hands get dry from the sanitizer). I also carry dry shampoo because I have bangs and they get gross really fast, and my epipen in case I have an allergic reaction.

5. My wallet, phone and campusREADY pass

6.png

CampusReady passes are now required on campus so I always have mine on me, saved as a screenshot on my phone.

6. Headphones

I cannot make it through long train rides and crowds without my audiobooks

7. My laptop

I usually bring my laptop and charger with me so I can work in my office. I also carry a phone charger because my phone doesn’t hold charge anymore.
