Saville Community Sports Centre

Saville Community Sport Centre second level

The Saville Community Sports Centre (SCSC) is a 350,000 square feet multi-sport recreation facility managed and operated by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, includes Canada's largest hardwood installation featuring 12 hardwood gymnasiums, lined for basketball, volleyball and badminton.

Our 4,000 square foot fitness centre is stocked with state-of-the-art cardio and strength-training equipment. Add 8 championship-level indoor tennis courts (and 9 outdoor courts), 10 sheets of championship-level curling ice, an artificial turf field (Foote Field), meeting rooms with smart technology, fitness studios, a pro-shop, lounge and bar, and you have one of the best community sports facilities in the country.

The facility is named after Edmonton businessman and philanthropist Bruce Saville who contributed substantially to both construction phases.

The facility, originally known as the Saville Sports Centre, opened in 2004. In September 2011, a West wing was added when the University of Alberta teamed up with GO Sports partners - Edmonton Grads Basketball Centre; Ortona Gymnastics; and the Edmonton Volleyball Centre Society.

The facility has been designated as a National Training Centre by the Canadian Curling Association; a National Gold Tennis Development Centre by Tennis Canada; a Volleyball Canada Centre of Excellence; the home of the Ortona Gymnastics high performance competitive team; the home of the University of Alberta's Golden Bears and Pandas basketball, curling, tennis and volleyball teams; and the home of the Canadian Senior Women's National basketball team.

It provides programming and services to sport enthusiasts at all levels, from recreational athletes to Olympic champions.
