Student Associations and Societies

ATLAS: The EAS Graduate Student Society

ATLAS is the 2nd largest graduate-run student society for Earth Scientists in Canada, formed in 1995 for graduate students of the Earth and Atmospheric Society (University of Alberta). ATLAS has fulfilled an important role in advocacy, outreach and event organization in the university community. Through professional and social activities we aim to promote cross-disciplinary discussion and encourage networking and personal advancement. ATLAS is comprised of ~20 person executive council, elected annually to fulfill important roles of advocacy, outreach and event organization. We run the department's weekly lunch talk series as well as annual keystone events such as the Labor Day Field Trip, the fall welcoming event and the graduate students' Research Symposium.
