Celebration of Excellence: Honouring ATEP Student Achievement
6 February 2026
Each term, the Celebration of Excellence recognizes undergraduate students across the University’s education programs who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their learning and professional growth. Within this broader university-wide recognition, the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP) is proud to honour the achievements of its own students in ways that reflect the program’s values, relationships, and community-centred approach to education.
On October 2nd, 2025, 68 ATEP students and on February 5th, 2026, 71 students were recognized. ATEP award recipients are selected by their instructors based on demonstrated dedication, commitment, growth, and learning throughout the term. These awards acknowledge not only academic success but also the ways students engage with their peers, instructors, families, and communities.
At the ATEP Celebration of Excellence, we honour undergraduate students who have shown exceptional community-building, leadership, professionalism, and academic achievement. Students often balance coursework alongside family responsibilities, employment, and community commitments. Their accomplishments reflect perseverance, relational accountability, and a strong commitment to becoming educators who teach and lead in good ways.
While part of a university-wide initiative to celebrate excellence in education, the ATEP recognition is grounded in the program’s commitment to relationship, respect, and collective success. This gathering provides space to honour not only individual achievements but also the families, Elders, mentors, instructors, and communities that support students throughout their learning journeys.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all ATEP students recognized at the Celebration of Excellence. Your dedication, growth, and leadership continue to strengthen the ATEP community and inspire future generations of educators.
