Future Scholars Research Symposium 2026
Calling Alberta's Next Generation of Researchers
The Future Scholars Research Symposium is where high school meets higher learning. This brand-new event brings 100 exceptional AP and IB students from Edmonton and Calgary to campus during the Festival of Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (FURCA) — the University of Alberta's annual showcase of undergraduate research from across all disciplines, organized by the Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI).
What to Expect
This year, FURCA is hosting a dedicated poster session for high school students from across Alberta. The afternoon program includes a campus tour, complimentary lunch, and the high school poster session where students can present their research, develop presentation skills, and network with undergraduate researchers.
All attendees can engage in panel discussions with researchers, explore innovative projects from high school and undergraduate students across the province, and participate directly in FURCA by viewing undergraduate research presentations from all disciplines. It's an opportunity to experience university-level academic inquiry, connect with faculty and students, and discover what research looks like in action.
Transportation for Calgary Students
Round-trip transportation is provided for Calgary participants attending the symposium.
